The Pulvertaft Hand Centre

is a long-established specialist hand surgery centre within the Royal Derby Hospital that treats a wide range of conditions of the hand and wrist.

The department runs postgraduate courses for doctors, nurses and therapists; the department also runs a course for local GPs on common elective hand surgery conditions.

Pulvertaft Hand Centre treats traumatic conditions of the hand. With dedicated facilities including outpatients and 3 theatres, the 8 consultants treat most conditions from the wrist to the finger tip.

Our team of specialist hand therapists treat conditions both post-operatively or by direct referral for conservative treatment. Our innovative approach results in the development and use of new and pioneering treatment.

Pulvertaft Hand Centre awarded best team in the Pride of Derby - July 2013

The 'Pride of Derby’ is the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff recognition award scheme, which recognises those staff who go the extra mile in their every day duties to improve patient care and staff experience.

The judges were impressed with the five nominations the team received  from patients all commending them for outstanding team work.

Patients felt truly cared for by them and commented on the kind, considerate and friendly approach of the unit.
